Fire Prevention Week

On Thursday, October 8th and Friday, October 9th, we had several guests from Ocean Breeze Elementary School. The Kindergarten classes of Mrs. Haire, Mrs. Smith, Mrs, Haire, and Mrs. Halloway walked to the station from the school to learn about fire safety.

The classes first watched a short video on fire safety. They learned the ‘Fire Triangle’, making a pre-plan with their families in case there is a fire at their house including a meeting place, changing the batteries in their smoke detectors twice a year, and not to play with matches/lighters.

The students then went outside where Firefighters Craig Finkelstein and Nic Roberts dressed up in bunker gear and let the kids go up and feel the gear. The kids were also taught to yess and scream if they hear us so that we can find them.

The kids were then allowed to look at the Truck or Engine to see all the tools we use and then climb in the back where the firefighters sit.

The firefighters had a lot of fun teaching the kids about fire safety and can not wait to see them again next year!
